SMART CITY - EMPOWERING INDIA AWARDS

The Ministry of Housing & Affairs has embarked upon one of the most ambitious programmes undertaken in the world for renaissance for rejuvenating and transforming Indian cities through several initiatives including infusion of more than Rs. 6,85,758 crore for ensuring citizen friendly urban areas. Smart Cities Mission will promote sustainable and inclusive cities that provide core infrastructure and give a decent quality of life to its citizens, a clean and sustainable environment and application of 'Smart' Solutions.

‘Smart City- Empowering India Awards 2019’ has been designed to felicitate, recognize and encourage government bodies and private companies behind the successful execution of the mammoth dream of developing 100 smart cities in India. The award will recognize pioneering projects that aim to make cities more livable, sustainable and economically viable by honoring best practices and models in the smart cities concept.

AIM & OBJECTIVE

In order to harness the true potential of urban India, MoHUA has launched several missions, including the Smart Cities Mission with three major objectives – liveability, economic-ability and sustainability. ‘Smart City- Empowering India Awards 2019’ will recognize pioneering city strategies, ideas and projects based on innovation, impact and replicability/scalability.

The award scheme seeks to reward cities, projects and innovative ideas that are promoting sustainable development in urban areas in India, as well as stimulating inclusive, equitable, safe, healthy and collaborative cities, thus enhancing quality of life for all.

CATEGORIES OF THE AWARD SCHEME

  • BEST SMART SAFE CITY PROJECT

    To recognize the best projects / initiatives for ensuring public safety, creating and maintaining more resilient urban environments, preventing and mitigating emergencies, and promoting public safety through policing.

  • Best Digital City Project

    To recognize the city project that uses digital technologies to transform business processes, improve delivery of public services to create and provide a positive impact on society.

  • Best Smart Education Project

    To recognise educational institutie involved in education & training which has inccorporated e-learning infrastructure and innovation in education technologies by virtual learning, digitization and augmented reality transforms.

  • Best Smart Water/ Waste Water Projects

    To recognize projects and initiatives undertaken by State Dept./ Urban Body to build sustainable water projects to conserve water resources; provide safe and clean drinking water; community owned water projects, etc.

  • Best Smart Grid project by the Utility

    To recognize the Smart Grid project implemented by power distribution utilities including various components such as Advance Metering Infrastructure, Peak Load Management, Solar Systems, Smart Meters and Communication Systems, SCADA/DMS/EMS enhancements etc

MECHANISM

‘Smart City- Empowering India Awards 2019’ endeavors to recognize excellence by executing a very standardized and rigorous methodology. Various categories and evaluation methodologies have been developed by the Knowledge Partners.

Applications would be sought in response to a questionnaire based on quantitative and qualitative aspects of the projects.

  • Application received would be evaluate by the Knowledge Partner - Evaluation Committee. Top 3 nominees will be selected in each category.
  • Top 3 nominees will be called for a presentation before Jury committee.
  • The JURY will select one winner in each category.

  • One organization could submit multiple nominations.
  • Nomination fee for single award category : Rs. 25000/- + 18 % GST.
  • Nomination fee for (2) award categories : Rs. 40000/- + 18 % GST.
  • Nomination fee for (3) award categories : Rs. 55000/- + 18 % GST.
  • Nomination fee for (4) award categories : Rs. 65000/- + 18 % GST.
  • Nomination fee for (5) award categories : Rs. 75000/- + 18 % GST.
